Bingo Lingo
If like me you are new to bingo online then the commonly used acronyms in the chatrooms can be a little daunting. I remember my first encounter with the bingo lingo, I had a welcome message from one of the CH’s (chat host) but didn’t have a clue what she was talking about, it appeared to me to be a whole foreign language. Being the mother of older kids I knew some of the text message acronyms for instance ‘LOL’ (laugh out loud), although when I first received this message I did for a short while believe that it meant lots of love – I should have known instantly that I had the wrong end of the stick, as this was not something that my boys often said now days to their dear old mum!
After a few more encounters at the online bingosites and a few to do with the national lottery, that I was playing I soon realised that ‘GL’ was ‘Good Luck’ and GL2U also became fairly obvious, as did 1tg, 2tg. However I realised that I had to do a bit more research when I I started receiving messages like ‘RTFM’(not being one for profanity I will leave you to research that one yourself, if you don’t already know it!) and ‘JTLYK’ (Just To Let You Know). I therefore decided that I needed to start reading up on bingo lingo, and if I didn’t know then I would ask, and to heck with the embarrassment.
I have found that chat rooms are friendly places and if you do ask then someone will always tell you, though it is only with more experience that you find out how many times someone has said something and you have completely missed their point. One such instance has been with the acronym ’LMAO’ (laughing my a*se off), for you old hands out there you will be well versed in this one in its many forms ’ROTFLMAO’, ‘ROFL’ or in the extreme ‘ROTFLMFAO’. Good luck with the bingo lingo, and remember don’t be shy of asking, every one is great in the online bingo community and they won’t mind at all you asking (AFAIK), HAGD, TTYL!
